We understand the procurement process

The Film Unit is a fully independent production company that was formerly the Foreign and Commonwealth Office Film and TV Unit. Not only are we commercially competitive, but we have an insider’s knowledge of public sector procurement protocols.

Based on our knowledge and experience of both working within and working for Government departments, we can give you open and honest advice on the procurement process.

Canal boatsThe European Directive and UK Regulations state that any goods or services procured by particular public sector departments and estimated to cost over £90,319*, must legally be put out to tender in all EU countries. But most Government and public sector filming projects come in well under this budget.

It is also a common misconception that Government departments can only use certain suppliers to meet their filming needs but in many instances this is not the case. The majority of Government and public sector departments are free to commission whichever film production company they choose, and in certain instances do not even have to tender as budget thresholds vary between Government departments.
